Just imagine yourself walking up a gentle hill, playing with a yo-yo as you go. The hill represents your gradual increase in wealth as you work towards your financial goals, while the yo-yo represents the short-term market ups and downs that will inevitably occur.

It's easy to get caught up in the yo-yo's fluctuations, especially when the media is always talking about them. But instead, focus on the person walking up the hill. Keep your eyes on the long-term goal, and don't get distracted by the short-term noise.

Remember, when investing in equities, it's normal to see some short-term volatility. But over the long term, the trend is generally up. So don't lose sight of the hilltop: your financial goal. Stay committed to your strategy and keep climbing.

Fun fact: did you know that bamboo is actually a type of grass? And the way it grows is pretty remarkable. For the first few months after the seed is planted, you can't see any evidence of growth above ground. But then one day, a tiny sprout emerges and rapidly shoots up to dizzying heights.

This is similar to how compounding works. At first, there may not be much visible growth in your investment. But over time, the power of compounding can help your wealth grow rapidly.

The same is true for equity markets. Some years, the markets may seem to be stagnant or even decline. But then, in just one year, they can shoot up and make up for lost time. That's why it's so important to remain invested in equity for the long term, through the ups and downs.

So remember, be patient in the initial years of compounding and stay meaningfully invested in equity for the long term. You'll be amazed at the growth you can achieve.

I came across some wisdom from a great saint that's been around for 500 years, but it's still just as relevant today. I think it can be really helpful for how we approach our investments and expectations, so I wanted to share it with you!

It's definitely worth taking a moment to ponder this timeless advice. Who knows, it might even change the way you think about investing.
